The online leaves a bit to be desired for sure. There's only ever been one Smash per console and both Ultimate and the Switch are still relatively new.
Just what I was looking to hear... through the years, the main games that have attracted me on Nintendo have been Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart, so likely will be getting SSBU and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch! Ultimate has a ton of content, but in mi opinion its not fun when playing solo, unless you enjoy playing versus a CPU. Also the switch has other banger games on it.
Online isn't without its faults. 4. Super Smash Bros. r/ smashbros. Online killed this game for me cuz of covid in the USA. You'll be fine.
I honestly don’t see why the Switch wouldn’t last the same if not longer so that puts us to at least 2023 at the absolute earliest for just a new console.
That's my "realist" view on it since it definitely isn't going to be 81 characters + newcomers. If you lose, you have to wait awhile to try again. No one can be that stupid, right? Smash is my favourite game series of all time. My question is: Would SSBU be worth it if you only play games alone. Sakurai himself said that this many characters won't be possible again so consider 90% of 3rd parties cut and more echo fighters to fill in the gaps. Find 3-4 titles you want minimum imo.

They also probably want the hype of the new Sony and Microsoft console to die down before their new console releases to prevent those from taking away sales potentially. The mechanics are also as deep as you delve into them. I'M NOT A HATER, I love Smash Bros and I love Nintendo and I don't mind shelling out a few hundred bucks every couple of years for the new consoles/games that come out, however I've always had a personal gripe with Super Smash Bros in particular in terms of how much it costs.

I'd ballpark the next Smash to come out 2026 or later. I loved the game and played almost every day when I had the N64. hot. Smash is like the one fighting game I feel like is worth $60.

The amount of content on smash ultimate(modes, characters, spirits mode itself) is huge and it could be $80 and still worthy. Subreddit. It won't get replaced by anything anytime soon, the DLC hasn't even finished being released. I own about 15 switch games and I have already played smash more than all my other games combined. Can’t believe a person doesn’t think the same way we do. Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a fantastic game, but graphically it's on par with some XBOX 360 games I've seen and It's a really simple game all in all that's more about it's mechanics then it is anything superficial. It's incredibly commonly played, and the most popular smash game by a mile (obviously), so finding players to play with won't be hard. That said switch certainly has some other very nice titles.
Be excellent to one another. Another smash game will probably come out in 3-5 years given recent release history (6 years between brawl and sm4sh, then 4 years to ult and it's been 2 years since then already), so that's probably ultimate's lifespan. If you have people who will play with you, even if it's just once a week, it's worth it for that. For $25, you'll get all the planned DLC fighters the moment they drop, including the newly-announced Joker fighter from Persona 5! As a casual game, it outdoes every other smash on literally every front from musics selection, graphics, number of characters, overall character balance... Lastly, chances are your friends have a switch or smash. I don't usually win, since some of the new advanced moves and techniques are unfamiliar to me, but I do OK and still have fun.

Otherwise, it might not feel worth it after you buy it. A game for fun? hot. rising. The last smash game was quite a bit less popular and the scene still kept on. There won't be a new version for some time. RIP), and a significantly smaller cast. It's a really simple game all in all that's more about it's mechanics then it is anything superficial. Nintendo isn’t in a rush to put out a new console at the moment with how amazing the Switch is doing. We are getting a higher spec Switch model in 2021 (most likely an XL version with better screen real estate and processing power) and there won't be a "successor" to that Switch for another 5 years.

Not to mention that the Switch is a more functional console that will probably have a longer life than the Wii/Wii U. and the single player mode is awful (World of Light; there's also a classic mode, but it's pretty much just flavored play vs. cpu which you'll get tired of quick). Recently usurped by Xenoblade tho bc I've been craving a console RPG... Yep. This game will be getting DLC through 2021, probably later because of delays. 370k. If you don't end up liking it though, it resells for like 85-90% of the original price anyways so it's not really a risky endeavor.
Exit to home menu, close the game and reopen the game. That said, the current environment makes it very hard to get together and play the game locally, and online multiplayer is nothing short of horrid.
I earn a good living, and figured maybe now's the time I can "invest" in a game console. Whatever that successor is though, it will probably come with a new iteration of Smash that focuses on overhauled move sets for fresh gameplay ideas rather than trying to match the character count of Ultimate. You have absolutely no idea how game development works and therefore no basis for the argument you're making. This game is definitely not going to die out anytime soon.

You either don't know what superficial means and/or don't realize how complicated game mechanics can be. They'd probably get a lot more purchases from lower income people and considering how expensive Switch's are I think they really should consider lowering their prices. This subreddit is for discussing Super Smash Bros. Brawl and smash 4 each lasted until the next game came out (honestly brawl died even earlier).

Press J to jump to the feed. Pretty much, for a new Smash to come out, not only does a new Nintendo console have to come out but Sakurai and his team have to decide to make one. You're definitely allowed to believe that Smash Ultimate isn't your cup of tea for 60$, but from any content related standpoint: it has some of the most rich music in any game across any genre, it has some of the most gorgeous graphics available on the Nintendo Switch, and its mechanical depth is as deep as you want to go with it, as most fighting games are.
