Today’s beer comes from Southern California’s Modern Times Beer.
It’s vibrant, and the color pops a bit more due to a lush foam head. From smaller breweries in the Southern California region, Belching Beaver’s Digital Bath and Modern Times’ own Critical Band and Orderville are all spot-on. While they may be separated by a few thousand miles, the two come together here to share their love of craft beer.

Into my glass, Space Ways is absolutely gorgeous with a glowing orange color and thick top of beige-colored, rocky foam that sticks around for several minutes. Up front the beer has a mild bitterness, but it really goes great with the flavors. Malts: 2 Row, Wheat Malt, Oats. Instead, everything tastes beautifully balanced: lemon and grapefruit notes intermingle with sweet and subtle papaya so each mouthful is full of flavors. If you dig deep, you can maybe get some of that sought-after gooseberry that Nelson is famous for. I have found that hazy beers have their own unique feel to them. Modern Times Brewing was founded in 2013 in San Diego, CA. Firstly, I can smell a mild to moderate hop aroma with hints of pine. I pick up a slight hops aroma on the nose.

These new wave American hops impart a remarkable aroma and flavor, which we've amplified with the dark stone fruit character of New Zealand-grown Motueka hops.

The dark purple had the same beer inside, mind you, and wasn’t a double dry-hopped (DDH) version like Modern Times does with the darker labels of some other IPAs.

I’m sampling Space Ways from a 16oz can that I picked up for $3 plus tax as a single. First up is the citrus.
